The Hon Vince Gair

Patron 1955-1975

Patron Vince Gair

Mr Gair was a long time patron of the club serving for 20 years during and after his time as Premier of Queensland.

He was later elected to the Federal Senate from 1964-1973.

Mr Gair also appointed as Ambassador to Ireland in 1974 by Gough Whitlam and served until he was recalled by the Prime Minister in early 1976.

If you are a student of political history in Queensland, you may be interested to read his wikipedia entry as he had a central role in the lead to the dismissal of the Whitlam led government in 1975 in the so called ‘Gair Affair’.
